Nola Jean Warren was born to Eugene Holder and Lorene Holder in Plantersville, Mississippi. She grew up as the eldest of 9 children in Marietta, Georgia where her father founded and pastored Open Bible Tabernacle.
Upon graduating from high school, Nola moved to San Antonio, Texas to study at IBC (International Bible College) where she met and married her first husband, Jerry Witt. She and Jerry moved to Durango, Mexico in 1962 as missionaries. They had three sons: Jerry, Mark (Marcos) and Phillip. When Jerry Witt died in a plane accident while taking the Gospel into the mountains of Durango in 1964, Nola stayed on in Mexico with her small sons to continue the work they had begun.
In 1967, Frank Warren showed up on her door step in Durango, Mexico. They were married in three months and two years later twin daughters, Lorie and Jeannie, were born into the family.
When Frank passed away almost 11 years ago, Nola once again, forged ahead with the vision she and Frank had worked tirelessly to advance for 39 years. She continued with the work, especially in what was her passion, the Bible School, among many other projects that she was instrumental in supporting and bringing to completion.
Even as she fought breast cancer during the past three years, Nola continued studying (beginning course work on a doctoral degree), writing, speaking, teaching, encouraging other ministries and pastors, and travelling. She was a woman of great faith, perseverance and tenacity, a true example of what it is to take hold of the promise and calling of God and not letting go, no matter what may come her way. Her legacy will go on.
Nola is survived by her mother, Lorene Holder; five children, Jerry, Mark (Marcos), Phillip, Lorie and Jeannie; 17 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 7 siblings, and numerous other family members.
